On 4th September two of our intrepid clergy, Kip and Richard, are to take to the waters of Lake Windermere and swim one mile in the Great North Swim to raise money for the Community Centre Project in Curitiba Brazil. This is a centre aiming to prevent a new generation of street children in Brazil. The aim is to raise £5000 for this project and details of how to donate follow. We have also included some of the aims of the project together with links to the project website. |

July has been a special year at St Peter's for weddings and after a quiet first six months we have had a very busy month in church for wedding services. Today we first of all celebrated the marriage of local couple Clair and Paul (pictured left) to a very individual service which included a number of pieces of music which reflected important moments in their lives. Undeterred by the unpromising weather forecast, Clair braved the elements arriving in a vintage sports car and was rewarded with a warm if cloudy day. Inside the church Clair and Paul enjoyed a wonderful service taken by Penny, our curate and before a large number of family and friends. Shortly afterwards another large congregation greeted the arrival of Lorna and Chris (pictured right) who took part in a equally inspiring service which on this occasion was led by our Rector Kip. Two wonderful services and we of course wish both couples our best wishes for their future happiness together. |

In a large church like St Peter's it can sometimes feel difficult to belong so we have small groups to encourage friendship and support. Within these small groups there will be the opportunity to explore further the theme of the Sunday morning sermon series. click to download group study notes Why not join one of the small groups? To join one or to find out more please speak to one of the clergy or Norma Townley |

Recent changes in the law by the "Church of England Marriage Measure 2008 Act" have significantly changed the criteria governing in which parish church you can be married. The act now allows more freedom in the choice of where couples may marry and recognises that many couples have previously been prohibited from celebrating their marriage at what they consider their home church. For more details you can read more on our "Wedding" page or speak to a member of the clergy or the Verger |

“Almost certainly the most important meeting in popular music history” is how the first meeting of John Lennon and Paul McCartney has recently been described. The meeting took place at St Peter’s Church Hall on the evening of Saturday, 6th July 1957........ Whilst waiting to play at the church dance that night, John Lennon and the other members of the Quarrymen Skiffle Group were introduced to the young Paul McCartney by a mutual friend. |
