Volunteer

At St Peter’s, we have tons of diverse opportunities to serve God, the church family, and the local community, and to make friends while you do it through volunteering! There are no specific qualifications required to join in, just a little availability and willingness to learn. However, if you have a gift or a skill that you’d like to share, we’d love to help you put it to good use.

Currently, we have church volunteers who help with services or on the main church site, youth and children’s volunteers who serve through groups on Sundays and throughout the week, and Hub volunteers who serve in the Simon Peter Centre on weekdays between 9am and 1pm.

Current Volunteering Positions

8am Sunday Service Children’s Group
Volunteers are needed to provide for children aged 3+ and give opportunity for parents/carers to worship and to help children grow in their faith and love for God, each other and the world; to build friendships, and gain an understanding of the theme of the service. Sessions will take place for 20/30 minutes in the Centenary Room (during the bible reading and finishing before Holy Communion). If you would like to volunteer for this role, please contact Olivia at youthworker@stpeters-woolton.org.uk

7pm–8pm Youth Evening Group (Age 14+)

Volunteers are needed for our upcoming new CYFA (new name to be confirmed!) 7-8pm Sunday group which aims to provide for young people beyond Pathfinders (years 10-13). We hope to also help our young people grow in their faith and love for God, each other and the world; to build friendships, navigate future paths, and gain an understanding of the message from each Sunday’s service. The new group will meet in the Simon Peter Centre during term-time only and volunteering will be on a rota basis. If you would like to volunteer for this role, please contact Olivia at youthworker@stpeters-woolton.org.uk

The Hub ‘Family Space’ Sessions

We’d love some more volunteers to help our families enjoy these sessions by playing games or sports or doing art & crafts with those who come. Whether you’re already a volunteer or not, Jen Radford would love to hear from you if you can help via hubcoordinator@stpeters-woolton.org.uk or 0151 428 6819. Our safer recruitment process applies.

Hub Reception, Fridays 11am–1pm

We’re seeking a volunteer to serve on reception and be hospitable to everyone in and out of the Simon Peter Centre. You are invited to apply to serve either every week, or school term-time only or even fortnightly as we may be able to pair you up with someone else. There’s a role description pinned to the wall at the back of church for you to look at. Please email Jen Radford on hubcoordinator@stpeters-woolton.org.uk for a copy of this, for more
information and/or for a volunteer application form.

Bell Ringing
For centuries, church bells have called people to worship, marked celebrations and farewells, and reminded the whole village that the church is alive and active in the community. Bell ringing began in the 1700s, and our bells, clock and tower were installed in 1888 and we’re looking for new volunteers to help keep this tradition going. We’re looking for committed new ringers aged 12+ to join our friendly team. No experience is needed, full training is provided free of charge during our Friday evening practice sessions at 7.30pm in the tower. Bell ringing is a unique mix of music, maths, exercise and teamwork. It keeps you fit, helps you meet people, builds friendships and gives you the chance to learn a skill you can use in churches across the country! Our team recently won the Liverpool striking competition, and ringers can work towards proficiency certificates too. Bell ringing is a real commitment and relies on teamwork, so we’re looking for people who want to become part of the group rather than dip in and out. We ring before Sunday services, weddings and funerals as needed, helping to share the church’s mission and presence across the village. Interested in finding out more? Contact Nick Willasey at nick.willasey@talktalk.net or get in touch via the Parish Office at parishadmin@stpeters-woolton.org.uk.
