Just Married

ImageThe first Saturday in June saw St Peter’s host two marriage services. The first couple to celebrate their wedding was Danielle and Barry (pictured left). Danielle chose to enter church to the ever popular “Bridal March” to be welcomed by our curate, Penny, and a large number of friends and family. The opening hymn “One more step along the way” was followed by the marriage ceremony and then a reading by Danielle’s brother, Kevin. Penny then gave some words of encouragement before the final hymn “Shine, Jesus, Shine”. The couple left the church to the strains of the “Wedding March” before continuing the celebrations at the Huyton Suite.

ImageA little later in the afternoon Daniel and a very excited Kayte (pictured right) joined together in marriage some twelve years after meeting locally whilst working in the Elephant Hotel. Kayte choose to enter church to “Pachebel’s Canon in D” to be greeted by our curate Richard. Hymns chosen for the service were “Amazing Grace” and “Lord of the Dance” and the bible reading was the ever popular 1 Corinthians chapter 13. Fittingly the couple and their family and friends retuned to the place where Daniel and Kayte’s story began, the Elephant , for their reception.

Finally we would like to congratulate Paul and Rachael who were married in their local church in Sefton Park but celebrated their reception in the Church Hall at St Peter's.Had occassion to look in the church hall and it was indeed a wonderful celebration

ImageBank Holiday weekend saw the latest wedding service at St Peter’s as on an unseasonably blustery day Gillian was escorted up the church path by her father. Waiting inside was fiancé Adrian and a large congregation of family and friends as Gillian entered the church to the “Bridal March”.  Following a reading by friend, Hayley, and the hymn “One more step along the way”, curate and bride to be Penny continued the service. The Signing of the Registers was followed by a reading from 1 Corinthians and a few words of encouragement from Penny. After the final hymn Adrian and Gillian left the church to the strains of the “Wedding March”

ImageSomething a little different for the wedding service this Saturday as the bride , Clare, entered church to the strains of “Soave Sia Il Vento” from the opera “Cosi Fan Tutte”.  To my knowledge this is the first time that this piece of music has been chosen and was an imaginative choice. Following a welcome from the Rector, Kip, the service started with readings by friends Christine and Brian before the congregation joined in the great wedding hymn, “Love Divine”.  The service continued with Kip presiding over marriage vows and exchange of rings and, then, following  a reading by Clare’s sister Emma, the Reverend Andrew Taylor gave a moving address to Clare and Mike. The service finished with hymns “Bind us together” and Tell out my Soul” before the  Mr and Mrs Kelly left church to the strains of Widor’s Toccata played by our organist , Mike. (Sorry about the quality of the photo but it was the swiftest exit from church by a couple this year!)

ImageOn a sun drenched afternoon local horse Ballabriggs won the Grand National at a packed Aintree whilst a few miles away in St Peter’s, Helen and Chris married before an equally enthusiastic congregation of family and friends. Helen, arriving at church wonderfully on time, entered the church to Pachelbel’s Canon. Our Rector, Kip, led the service introducing readings by friends, Catherine and Stuart, and the first hymn, “Give me Joy”, Kip then gave a short talk, giving words of encouragement to Helen and Chris focusing on not only the bible reading but lessons from the Grand National. After a final hymn, “One more step” the newly weds left the church to the “Wedding March”

ImageSt Peter’s celebrated its first wedding of the year on 1st April when Jennie walked into the church to the accompaniment of the Bridal March to marry David. This was the culmination of a long relationship which started at a James Bond themed New Year’s Eve some nine years ago. Enthusiastically supported by their friends and relations, hymns included “Give me joy in my heart“ and “O Lord my God”  and readings from their friends   Rob, Gill and Sarah. Our curate, Richard, then gave an imaginative talk incorporating both James Bond and the bible reading from 1 Corinthians before  Jennie and David left church with their guests to continue the celebrations at the Palm House in Sefton Park.
