The Final Wedding of the year at St Peter's

ImageDespite the thick covering of autumn leaves and the grey overcast day, nothing could spoil the colour and excitement of our final wedding service of the year as Louise entered church accompanied by her three stylish bridesmaids.  As the "Bridal March" played, she walked down the aisle to be greeted by Stuart and our Rector Kip. There followed a traditional service which was especially special as Louise and Stuart have come to be well known to us at St Peter’s and we had been looking forward to this day. The hymns chosen were “Morning has broken” and “Jerusalem” whilst the readings were and a passage from “Captain Corelli’s Mandolin”. We wish Stuart and Louise our best wishes from all at St Peter’s for their future happiness.

Ben & Lil leave church
Following a busy month in August, the first weekend in September saw St Peter’s celebrate a further two wedding services in church Firstly on the Friday, Peter and Laura were married in front of a large congregation of family and friends on a wonderfully bright autumn afternoon. Unfortunately we do not have a photo of this service due to camera problems but, should anyone have a copy, please send it on to our website and we will publish it. Whilst the autumnal weather changed the following day the spirit of celebration did not as Ben and Lil married in front of an equally enthusiastic group of family and friends. Our congratulations to all those couples that have married in St Peters these last few weeks and we wish them well for their future happiness   together.

Nicole & Stephen
August proved a very busy month for weddings at St Peter’s and we celebrated services for five couples in church .  In the middle of the month Alison and Colin married and then at the end of the month we celebrated three weddings in two days. As it was also Beatles Week in the city the grounds were full of visitors who were equally as thrilled to see the weddings in progress as look at the beatles sights in the churchyard and hall. We have included on the next page some snap shots of the happy couples as they left church after their services

ImageAfter the great service for Penny and Will’s wedding in the middle of July , St Peter’s has been fortunate enough to host a number of special services over recent weeks including not only  wedding services  but services of marriage blessing which were equally as special  for all those concerned. The most recent service saw Julie and Bernie marry in a service conducted by Richard, our curate. Julie and Bernie chose the hymns “Bind me together”  and  “O Jesus I have promised” and a reading from 1 Corinthians.

ImageEarlier in the day Paul and Rachael celebrated their marriage and renewed their vows in a wonderfully intimate service in the chapel surrounded by their close family. This was a really special occasion for all who were present.

ImageA week earlier had seen Sarah and Stefano slalom down the aisle in between a row of bay trees as they too celebrated their marriage vows in front of an enthusiastic group of friends and relations.

ImageLast but by no means least was the marriage between Adrian and Lyndsey on a bright Sunday afternoon. Kip, the Rector, officiated again at this service  and it was just another special day at St Peter’s. Congratulations to all these couples and we wish them all the best for their future happiness together.

ImageGreat celebrations at St Peter’s on Saturday as our young curate, Penny, married her fiancé, Will.  Penny arrived reasonably promptly for her in a car driven by her fellow curate, Richard. Surely this was a first for St Peter’s and could give Richard a good second career. A really great celebration in church and, very much in Penny’s own style, there was plenty of music for the large congregation to sing. Kip returned from holiday to take the service and friends Bryan and Alwyn gave a thoughtful address. At the end of the service the congregation celebrated in church with light refreshments and afterwards went across to the church hall for the formal reception.

The reception was indeed a great success and it is a very long time since the hall was used for a wedding reception following a service in church and proved a wonderful venue. The whole day was a teat and the reception guests waved Penny and Will off for, I understand, a romantic week in Italy.
